Calvin Presbyterian Church & LaGuerre Cemetery |
Known as the 'Calvin Presbyterian Church' or the 'LaGuerre Presbyterian Church', the remains of the church are located in St. Anicet Parish, Huntingdon County, Quebec. The church stood in the centre of what was the Village of LaGuerre (also known as "Godmanchester Village"). The cemetery was established approximately 20 years before the church was built and it became the resting place for many of the area's Scottish Presbyterian settlers.

For a list of almost 200 burials and gravestone
transcriptions of LaGuerre Cemetery, follow one of these links:
Sorted by order
of gravestone -- includes links to images to the actual gravestones. The
nature of the cemetery did not allow for a map of the graves to be prepared when
photographed in October 2002.
Sorted by surname
-- includes link to actual gravestone.
In writing the history of the church and village, I did find conflicting information between sources and I found some of the history is subject to the reader's interpretation. If you discover something glaringly incorrect in the history, I hope you will let me know. Similarly, transcribing gravestones is easily subject to incorrect entries. If you find a mistake or if you can add to the transcription's information, I would welcome your help. If you are aware of a burial that is missing from the list, I would welcome the information as I would like the list to include all known burials in the cemetery.
I am happy to provide higher quality images of any of the photographs that you see here. Electronic copies of the files are available simply for the asking. The file sizes of the images on these pages have been reduced to allow quicker loading by your browser.
