11-17-1900 John Leahy, died in the parish of St Anicet, age 95 years. Deceased
was a native of County Cork, Ireland, and came to Canada in 1826.
11-04-1900 John Watt, died in the parish of St Louis de Gonzaque PQ, age about
76 years. Mr. Watt was born at Ord Brae, parish of Strathbogie, County Aberdeen,
Scotland, and came to Canada with his parents in 1832. Ten years later he
settled in St Louis de Gonzague, where he continued to reside until the time of
his death. The lot upon which he settled he found a forest, but by persevering
industry he reduced it to cultivation, and he leaves behind him an exceptionally
valuable property. Wonderful to relate, his last illness was his first. endowed
with a remarkably strong constitution, which he preserved by temperate habits,
it was not until the closing week of his life that he had Occasion to employ the
services of a physician. His death was singularly painless. He was borne to the
grave by his six stalwart sons, who as Paul bearers, performed for him the last
sad offices. In addition to these he leaves a Widow and daughter to mourn his
loss. In religion he was a Presbyterian, and in politics a liberal. Mr. Watt was
for many years a subscriber to the witness daily witness.
