12-17-1936 Harry B. Rennie, died at Mansfield Massachusetts, age 49 years. The
deceased was born in Canada, leaving Franklin PQ 28 years ago. He was the
adopted son of the late Simon Rennie, and his wife Elizabeth J. Fosburgh, of
Franklin Center PQ. He leaves to mourn, his wife, who was Margaret Buchanan,
Whome he married 26 years ago. 3 adopted sisters, Mrs. Simon Fishback, of
Attleboro Massachusetts. And Mrs. William H. Priest, of Franklin PQ, Mrs. A.E.
Sadler of St. Petersburg Florida, funeral services held in the Sherman
Undertaking Parlors, Interred in Springbrooke Cemetery.
01-19-1937 Peter Belair, died in his home in Trout River, aged 85 years. He was
a Fenian Raid veteran. In 1936 he was honored at the celebration for the
Huntingdon Borders colors held in Huntingdon which he attended as one of the
five surviving members of the Fenian Raids of 1866-70. Deceased was born in
1851, son of John Belair and Louise Pigeon. He was married to Sarah Rivet who
predeceased him several years ago. From this marriage, three daughters, Mrs. L.
McDonald of Potsdam, Mrs. G.Belair of Trout River, and Mrs. H. Morrow of Saranac
Lake New York, and two sons, Peter of Constable New York, and John, of Trout
River. One brother, Joseph of Kilbain also survives him. Funeral held from the
Trout River Church, Father Lynch officiating, Interred in Trout River Cemetery.
01-06-1937 William Hamilton, died suddenly at Huntingdon PQ, age 69 years. He
was son of Daniel Hamilton and his wife Jane McDonald, and was born March 14,
1868 at Huntingdon PQ. The deceased is survived by his wife, Annie Darby of
Ormstown, four sons, and five daughters. Funeral held at the Huntingdon United
Church, service conducted by Rev. J. H. Miller, D.D., and Rev. J.B.Maclean,D.D.
Interred in Huntingdon PQ.

01-08-1937 Aaron Sweet, died at Winchester Ont., age 83 years. The late Mr.
Sweet was born at Hemmingford PQ in 1854, son of the late Richard Sweet and his
wife , Eleanor Broder, sister of the late Sir Andrew Broder. On October 11, 1881
he was married to Mary Esther Boyd, enjoying 55 years of happy marriage. In 1931
both were honored on the occasion of their golden Jubilee by the citizens of the
town. He held life membership in Henderson Lodge No. 383 A.F.and A.M. The late
Mr. Sweet is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs.B.L. Carr of Morrisburg
Ont., two brothers, Fred Sweet of Hemmingford PQ, and William B. Sweet of
Vancouver BC, two grandsons, Langton and John Carr of Morrisburg. Funeral held
from his late residence to the United Church, under the auspices of Henderson
Lodge. Service conducted by the Rev. Bro Rev. W. S. Achison, pastor of the
Church.

01-14-1937 Catharine Sproule LeClaire, widow of the late Napoleon LeClaire, died
at her home in Ormstown PQ, age 74 years. She was born at Tatehurst PQ, August
19, 1863, and was married on May 08, 1882 to Napoleon LeClaire, who predeceased
her on November 30, 1926. Seven of Nine children survived. Two daughters, Mrs.
M.D. McNaughton of Ormstown, and Mrs. James M. Harrison of Montreal. 5 sons,
William J., Edward E., Robert of Montreal, Dufferin E. of Howick, Gordon also of
Montreal, 8 grandchildren and one great grandson. Funeral services were held
Sunday afternoon at St. James Anglican Church in Ormstown PQ. Service conducted
by Rev. W. T. Payne.

of Mr. and Mrs. James Gardner. He was married in 1896 to Edith Wright of Saranac
lake New York. Surviving are his wife, three sons, Charles of Binghampton,
Arthur, of Malone New York, and Phelps of Saranac lake. Four grandchildren,
James, Wayland, Joyce and Barbara Gardner, a half-sister in San Jose CA.

age 79 years. She was born March 20, 1869, at St.Anicet PQ, daughter of Joseph
and Juliet Jacobs. She was married to Frank Hart on November 08, 1887. The
couple went to the United States 20 years ago to the vicinity of Fort Covington
and Potsdam. Surviving are her husband and 9 sons and daughter,Hormisdas and
Amanda Hart of Potsdam New York, Ernest, Alcide and Alfred Hart, of Massena New
York, Mrs. Charles Mayville of Fort Covington, Mrs. Joseph Pelletier of

Chateaugay New York, age 82 years. He was born in Hinchinbrooke on August 22,
1854, son of James Eaton and Annie Fitzsimons, both natives of Ireland. At the
age of 18 years he went to northern New York and in 1880 became a naturalize
citizen. On December 25, 1879, he was married to Miss Mary Jane Dalzell of
Chateaugay, who survives him, and a son, Thomas Allen, born 1882, died October
1918, and his widow Mrs. Grace Eaton, passed away in 1926. There are three
daughters, Colitis, Ethel and Isabelle, who had made their home with their
grandparents since the death of their mother. The deceased also leaves two
sisters, Mrs. Annie O'Neill, of Shelburne VT, and Mrs. Mary McCurry of Newburgh
New York, and a brother, James Eaton, of Saskatoon SK. He was a member of the
Methodist Church.

years ago, and 62 years ago went to Chateaugay. In 1874 he was united in
marriage to Miss Margret Martin, whose death occurred September 15, 1935. He is

She leaves to mourn her loss, one stepdaughter, Mrs. Jean Robertson of Seattle
WA, two sons, a David of Caster AB, and William of Trout River, also four
grandchildren,. Funeral service held at the home of her son, by Rev. J. H.

was born in Canton PA, son of the late Rosalle and Lulu Harvey. Nine years ago
Mr. Harvey married Jane Hamilton of Glenelm Québec, one child, John, born to
this union, Mrs. Harvey and their son, and an Aunt, Mrs. Etta Tebo of Elmira NY,
are his only immediate survivors. Funeral service held at the James A Fortune
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

03-24-1937 Michael Richard Leahy, beloved husband of Vina Fortin, and Uncle of
C. J. Murphy, died at Wenatchie Washington, age 71 years. He was born on May 24,
1866 in Huntingdon Québec, later went to Leahy Washington, where he settled at
the Leahy brothers cattle ranch. In 1893 his father died and he returned to
Québec, where he met and married Vina Fortin, in 1895. With his brothers, James,
Dan, and Denny, he was one of the earliest Eastern Washington Cattlemen, Denny
still survives, Mike was the youngest of 13 children, his parents came to Québec
from Ireland, he was a member St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Surviving are his
widow,Vina Leahy, Chelan County Schools Superintendent, four sons, James and
Allen Leahy, of Seattle Washington, Lester Leahy of Menlo Park CA, and Lawrence
Leahy of Wenatchee, one daughter, Mrs. George Knauss, of Huntingdon Beach CA,
one brother, Denny of Spokane Washington, two sisters, Ursula Madden of Seattle,
and Mrs. Ella Nelson of Oakland CA, and three grandchildren. Mr. M E. Leahy was
an Uncle of Mrs. M. E Finn, of Ormstown, and Mrs. C. J. Murphy of Huntingdon.

Thomas Cooper, Mrs. Crawford went to Malone when a young woman, Barbara Cooper
married William Crawford, now retired Burke Farmer and the two celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary about a year ago, her husband is also 80 years of age.
Besides her husband she is survived by four sons, William T. Crawford of Malone
New York, Gordon, Thomas and Roy, all of Burke New York, she also leaves a
sister Mrs. Simon Gleason of Fort Covington New York, seven grandchildren.
Funeral services from the home, to North Burke Presbyterian Church, where the
Rev. Harold W.Fidley officiated. Burial followed at Burke New York.

to George H. Scott of Burke New York, on September 29, 1883. Two children
survive, Irene, Mrs. Tucker, and Kenneth Scott, both of Burke. She also leaves
one sister, Mildred, Mrs. W. J. Crawford, of Burke, and two brothers, T. A.

disaster, when the liner was torpedoed in 1915, he was three hours in the water,
clinging to an overturned lifeboat, and was saved by a tug which came out from

67 years 11 months. Beloved husband of Lizzie Figsby. He was born in Hemmingford
Québec, in 1870, coming to this district from Minnesota, some 45 years ago. His
marriage to Miss Elizabeth Figsby of Hemmingford Québec was solemnized in the
early 1900s. Surviving are his widow and five brothers, William, Albert and
Steve, of Fort Francis, Robert of Putman NY, Thomas of Westfield NJ, and
Johanathan, of new Westminster BC.

McNaughton and his wife, Jean McBain of Dewittville Québec, and was predeceased

survived by one son, Ross M. Fraser. Funeral from her late residents, to the

Montreal Québec, age 86 years. He was born in Huntington Québec in 1852, son of
Andrew MacCallum, one of the early Scottish pioneers of the county. Mrs.
MacCallum died a few years ago. He is survived by two sons, and three daughters,
O. B. MacCallum of the National Trust Company, H. M. MacCallum, general
passenger agent of the Canadian Pacific Steamships, both of Montreal. Mrs. John

Elgin Cemetery. She was the daughter of the late Robert Clark and his wife,
Elizabeth Forrester of Elgin Township. Funeral service was held on Thursday and
was conducted by her minister Rev. Dr. McLean of St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church, assisted by the Rev. Dr. Mellor of the United Church. Interred in Elgin
Cemetery in the old Clark lot where the dust of so many of her kindred had been
laid.

Myrtle, Morrison, Winona, and Mrs. Victor Christianson, also two sisters, Mrs.
William Hanna and Mrs. Alex Blair.
