01-05-1950 Charlie Braithwaite, beloved husband of Muriel Holtby, died suddenly in Hemmingford Quebec, in his 70th year. Mr. Braithwaite was born at Henrysburg Quebec, son of the late Joseph Braithwaite and Sarah Figsby. He came to Hemmingford when very young. Surviving besides his widow, the former Muriel Holtby, are his daughter, Hazel, Mrs. M. Hill, son-in-law, Mr. M. Hill, four grandsons, Douglas, Gordon, Charles and Allan Hill, two brothers, Joseph of Leask, SK, and Acton of Huntingdon Quebec. Funeral services were held at St. Luke's Anglican Church in Hemmingford Quebec, service conducted by the Rev. E. Bennett. Interment in the Hemmingford Cemetery.

01-08-1950 Ozelia Belair, wife of Alexander Chretien, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Saumier, in Huntingdon Quebec, age 78 years. Surviving are one sister, Elmira, Mrs. Napoleon Gibeault, of Attleboro MA, three daughters, Florida, Mrs. Adrienne Quesnel of Valleyfield Quebec, Rose Alma, Mrs. Albert Saumier of Huntingdon Quebec, and Rhea, Mrs. Bert Primeau, of Tupper Lake New York, four sons, Omer and Joseph Chretien of St Anicet Quebec, Edmund of Huntingdon Quebec, and Thomas of Tupper Lake New York, 29 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Huntingdon Quebec, Interment was in St Anicet Quebec.

12-12-1949 Louis Hart, died suddenly at St Anicet Quebec, age 96 years. The deceased was born in St Anicet on November 14th, 1853. He was united in marriage to the late Elizabeth Saumier, who predeceased him several years ago. He leaves to mourn, one son, Hormisdas, three daughters, Mrs.Osais Girard, Mrs. Emma Deschamps, and Mrs. Alford Malenfant, also three brothers, Raphael, Achille, and Philias. The Funeral Mass was held from St. Agnes Parish Church on December 14th, service conducted by the Rev. Father Paul Deguire.

01-09-1950 Edson P. Hunter, beloved husband of the late Matilda Whittal, died suddenly at his home in New Erin, Huntingdon Quebec, in his 74th year.

01-03-1950 Ortha Quesnel, beloved wife of Ernest Marcil, died at Cambridge MA, in her 60th year. Burial at St Anicet Quebec.

01-06-1950 Mr. D. M. Foster, died peacefully after a long illness on the Gore, Hinchinbrooke Quebec. He was born in Montreal Quebec, on August 10th, 1876, son of the late Robert Gordon Foster of Peebles Scotland, and his wife, Mary McKay of St. Urbain Quebec. In 1903, he went to Vancouver BC, where he was employed by the CPR. In February 1906, he married Mary Jane Patterson of Vancouver BC. In 1908 he returned to Montreal where he worked until 1932 when he bought a farm in St. Urbain, and with his wife and family moved to the country. In 1939, he prchased the farm of the late Robert Johnston, the house being burnt on November 1947. He bought the farm of Sam Herdman where he was living at the time of his death. He leaves to mourn, besides his wife, two daughters, Mary, Mrs. Wiley McArthur who lives with her mother, Mrs. Robert Helm. Margaret, of the Ridge Road, and one son Gordon at home, also two son of laws, 10 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Charles Bennett of Verdun Quebec, three brothers, John, Joe, and Garfield, all of St. Urbain Quebec. Funeral services were held in the Beechridge Presbyterian Church on Monday afternoon, service conducted by the Rev. J. H. Marshall of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church.

01-17-1950 Sarah Lang, beloved wife of James M. McGerrigle, died at her home in Ormstown Quebec, in her 74th year. Funeral from St. Paul's United Church in Ormstown Quebec. She was born in Howick Quebec, February 29, 1876, daughter of the late Dougal Lang and Christina Peddie, she moved to Ormstown with her parents at an early age. She was united in marriage to James M. McGerrigle in 1903. She leaves to mourn, becides her husband, three sons, Andrew of Graenville Quebec, Douglas of Huntingdon, and Burry of Ormstown, two grandsons, Douglas Jr. of Huntingdon, and Jimmy of Ormstown Quebec, one brother, Jack Lang of Valois, Quebec, three sisters, Mrs. Gordon Cameron of Ormstown Quebec, Mrs. Charlie Cairns of Ruskin BC, and Mrs. Alfred Auger of Turner Valley, AB. Funeral services were held from St. Paul's United Church, service conducted by the Rev. C. L. Taylor, assisted by the Rev. W. T. Payne of Ormstown and Rev. T. Knowles of Huntingdon.

12-27-1949 Harriet Adeline Miles, wife of the late C. H. Spencer, and sister of the late Mrs. Dr. William McLean Rowat of Athelstan Quebec, died at Saskatoon SK, in her 81st year.

01-01-1950 Mrs. Edward Cosgrove, (nee Mary McDonough), died peacefully beside her grandchildren in an automobile. Age 78 years. She is survived by two daughters, Anna Mae, Mrs. William Swezey of San Diego CA, and Loretta, Mrs. Alex MacDonald of Cornwall ON. Four sons, Hugh of Huntingdon, John of San Diego, William of Saranac Lake, and Michael at home, a son Harold, was killed in Italy in 1944. Her husband, Edward Cosgrove, predeceased her in July 1946. She is survived also by 21 grandchildren. Funeral services were held in St Anicet Quebec, service conducted by her pastor, Rev. Father P. Grondin.

01-30-1950 William John French, beloved husband of Helen Anderson, and father of Lois, Winston and Linda, died suddenly at Athelstan Quebec, in his 43rd year. He was born in Elgin Township, son of Mrs. Jane E. French and the late Hugh French. He took up residents at Athelstan 21 years ago where he resided until his death. He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, serving on the board of management of the Athelstan Church. He is survived by his widow, the former Helen Anderson, and his three small children, Lois, Winston and Linda, also by his mother, Mrs. Jane French, and two brothers, Clifford and Clarence, all of Athelstan Quebec. Funeral was held on Wednesday February 01, from the Athelstan Presbyterian Church, with his pastor, Mr. Howard G. Grace in charge of the service, Interment in the Athelstan Protestant Cemetery.

Father Armand Rancourt, of St.Amable, Quebec, his sisters, Miss Anna Rancourt, and Alice, Mrs. Lucian Aquin of Napierville, also numerous nephews and nieces.

Cozad, pastor of All Souis Church. The late Mr. Payne was born at Hemmingford Quebec, and was known to many in the area. Burial took place in the family lot in Edson Cemetery.

Funeral services at St. Andrew's United Church in Williamstown ON. Service conducted by the Rev. G. W. Irving. Interment in the adjoining Cemetery.

02-03-1950 John Russell MacGregor, beloved husband of Dorothea Pendue, and son of the late John C. and Janet Cameron MacGregor, died at Baxter Springs, Kansas, age 46 years.

01-29-1950 Andrew Gilmore Taylor, formerly of Ormstown Quebec, died at his home in Ottawa ON, age 66 year's, Interment at Ottawa ON. He was born in Ormstown Quebec, October 31st, 1883, graduating from MacDonald College in 1915 and teaching until 1920. Surviving becides his widow, are two sons, John C. Taylor of McGill University, and Andrew, at home, one daughter, Mrs. James L. Donald of Toronto, two brothers, J. W. Taylor of Ormstown Quebec, and Ord Taylor of Huntingdon Quebec, one sister, Mrs. Henry Henderson of Huntingdon. Funeral services were held from the Funeral Home in Ottawa ON, Interment in the Beachwood Cemetery.

02-02-1950 Douglas Reed Tipping, beloved husband of Gertrude Simpson, died suddenly at Montreal Quebec, age 49 years. Funeral services were held at Clarenceville, Sunday February the 5th.

01-29-1950 Mrs. Joseph Lancto, ( nee Carrie Spoon), late of Chateauguay, died at the Saranac Lake General Hospital. She was tenderly cared for by her niece, Miss Mary E. Greemore. She was born June the second, 1864 at Chateauguay, she was the daughter of the late Deodose and Angeline Spoon. At an early age she became the wife of Joseph Lancto of Chateauguay. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in St. Patrick's Church and Chateauguay, the body was placed in the vault to await burial in the spring.

01-27-1950 Albert J. Moe, of Burke New York, died at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone to New York. He was born in Burke on October 10, 1858, son of the late Findley, and Laura Morse Moe. On January the third, 1883, Mr. Moe married Mrs. Mina Finney of Burke, to them two sons were born , Mrs. Moe passed away in 1927, survivors include, two sons, Herald of Rome New York, and Leland of Burke, two granddaughters, Mrs. Dorothy Hoxie of Burke, and Mrs. Fern Moomey of Malone, also four great-grandchildren and a nephew, Eugene R. Moe of Burke. Funeral services were held at the Burke Methodist Church on Monday, January 30th at 230 p.m., service conducted by Rev. Lord. Berial was in the Methodist Cemetery at Burke Center.N.Y.

02-04-1950 Louisa Permian, beloved wife of Oscar Chartrand, died at her home in St. Stanislaus Quebec, she was born at St Louis de Gonzague Quebec, 50 years ago and received her education at the convent there. In 1935 she was married to Oscar Chartrand and ever since resided in our midst. She leaves to mourn, her husband, one sister, Eva, Mrs. Armand Lefebvre of St. Martine Quebec, two nephews, Francis and Paul Morin. Funeral services were held in the St. Stanislas Church, service was conducted by the Rev. Father Pourier. Burial took place in the family plot at St. Louis, Quebec.

02-14-1950 Mrs. D. T. Lemieux, (Georgina Lefebvre), mother of Mrs. James E. Barrett, Mrs. R. Soucisse, and Mrs. R. B. Barrette, died suddenly at Huntingdon Quebec, age 74 years. Funeral services on Friday the 17th, at St Chrysostome Quebec.

02-06-1950 John Moffat, husband of the late Jeannie Maxwell Moffat, died at the residents of his son, James A. Moffat, 28 Arch Street, Providence RI. Age 82 years 04 days. He was born in Kirkcudbright, Scotland on February 02, 1868. Mr. Moffat came to this country in 1887, and married Jeannie Maxwell of St Louis de Gonzague Que. In 1903 the family moved to Ormstown, where he followed the painting trade until 1916, when he returned to Providence. Being in poor health he retired six years ago and since then has made his home with his son, James and family. Surviving are two sons, James A. Moffat of Providence RI, and William Earl Moffat of Norwood Rhode Island, five grandchildren, a brother, Mr. Ellie Moffat of Chatham, England also survives. Funeral services were held from the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 131 Elmwood Avenue, in Providence. Burial in the family plot, in the Brayton Cemetery, Apponaug RI.

02-05-1950 Mrs. Delia Russell, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Howard Miller in Bangor New York, age 79 years, she was born October 29, 1870. She was born in St. Agnes Quebec, on October 29, 1870, a daughter of Mitchell and Lucy Russell. She was married to the late Henry A. Russell of Fort Covington in 1892 at the Episcopal Church in Brushton, in 1942 their families celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. The couple spent most of their married life in Westville New York and Kirk, engaged in farming. Mr. Russell predeceased his wife in 1947. Surviving are four son's, and two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Muller of South Bangor, Jennie, Mrs. Harold Ferris of Westville, George of Rouses Point, Bentley of Springfield MA, Charles of Fort Covington, and Rev. Leonard Russell of North Creek, two brothers and one sister, George Russell of Malone New York, Jerry Russell of Somers CT, and Mrs. David Degray of Springfield MA. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. One daughter and one son predeceased her, Mrs. Clayton Muller and William S. Russell. Body placed in Morningside vault for later Interment in the family plot.

02-03-1950 John Russell MacGregor, of Baxter Springs, Kansas, a tragic aftermath of a basketball game between Riverton and Baxter Springs, Kansas, was the sudden death of John Russell MacGregor, 46 years of age, of 527 East 9th Street, who died of a heart attack on the school grounds shortly after the game was over. The late Mr. MacGregor was born in Huntingdon Quebec, son of the late John C. MacGregor and his wife, Janet Cameron. He is survived by one sister, Mabel, Mrs. Stanley Anderson of the Gore, Hinchinbrooke Quebec, a half-brother William of Hollywood CA, and a half sister, Catherine, of Montreal. A sister and two brothers predeceased him within the past three years, namely, Helen, Mrs. J. O. Gamble of Herdman Quebec, Archibald of Huntingdon, and Robert of Vancouver British Columbia. Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Dortha MacGregor, a daughter, Miss Dortha Jean MacGregor who graduated from high school last year and who stays at home. Two sons, Walter MacGregor and Bill MacGregor at home, Mrs. MacGregor's mother, Mrs. Hazel Hurley, also makes her home with the family. Funeral services were held at the first Christian Church, service conducted by the Rev. William Ben Walker, minister of the first Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Baxter Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Blosser-Shewmake Mortuary.

01-29-1950 Mrs. Margaret A. Miller, (Margaret Ann Armstrong), of Aubreys Coroner's, Dundee Quebec, passed away at the Cornwall General Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Francis Armstrong and his wife, Isabella Stewart, and was born in Ormstown Quebec, on September the eighth, 1872. Her family moved to Dundee and later she was united in marriage to Mr. Horace Miller, a Dundee. Their only son, Kenneth, died in the early 1920s while still a young man. Since her husband's death, a few years ago, Mrs. Miller and her sister managed to carry on the farm, she leaves to mourn, one sister, Miss Isabella Armstrong, at home, one brother, Mr. A. F. Armstrong of Dundee, and a number of nieces and nephews and cousin's. Funeral services were held Wednesday February the first, from her late residence to the Zion Church. Interment was in the old Zion Church Cemetery.

Upon the death of her father, the family came to Fort Covington where Mrs. Clark attended and graduated from normal school in Genesco and received her B.A. from Columbia University, New York City. Later she received an M.A. degree from Ohio State University in Columbus. In 1928, she was taken ill and spent four years a patient at Saranac Lake. In August 1945 she was united in marriage to Harry C. Clark, and they had since resided in Westerville, where Mrs. Clark was a teacher in Otterbein College. She leaves to mourn, besides her husband, four sisters, Miss Isabella Fraser of Fort Covington, Mrs. Charles Smallman of Dundee, Miss Lorraine E. Fraser of Rockville Center, Miss Alice Fraser of Freeport, two brothers, Rev. C. His wife was the former Nellie McDonough who predeceased him in 1933.

Mrs. Maxwell was born in Chateauguay Quebec, in 1881, (Mary Elizabeth Steele), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Steele of Chateauguay. She was married to John A Maxwell on December 27, 1909, and resided at Allen's Corners, until 1925, when they move to Phillipsburg Quebec. She is survived by her husband, Mr. John Maxwell, and six children, Mrs. E. Bombard of Phillipsburg, Mrs. K. J. Newman of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Mr. James Maxwell of Noranda Quebec, Mr. Russell Maxwell of Val d'Or Quebec, Mr. Allen Maxwell of Phillipsburg a, and Mr. Kenneth Maxwell of Bedford Quebec, two son-in-laws and four daughters in law, becides a number of grandchildren, two brothers, Mr. Alex Steele, of Bedford Quebec, and Mr. C. Steele of Ormstown Quebec. Funeral services were held in the Phillipsburg United Church, on Sunday afternoon, March 05, service conducted by the Rev. T. F. Duncan. Interment was made in the Phillipsburg Cemetery.

03-20-1950 Mr. John Wallace, one of Roxham's oldest residence passed away very suddenly on Monday night. The deceased being in his usual good health, his death came as a great shock to all. 03-30-1950 Archibald Cameron, husband of the late Christina Roy, died at his home in Howick Quebec, age 87 years. The Cameron name has been well known in the Chateauguay Valley since 1832, when Archie's grandfather came from Scotland as a pioneer. In their home on the Tullochgorum Road, genuine friendship and warm hospitality, was enjoyed by the many friends and relations who visited Mr. Cameron and his wife, the former Christina Roy. Surviving are two sons, Roy and Hugh Cameron of Howick, 5 daughters, Mrs. Albert Hope and Mrs. Florence Mattise of Howick Quebec, Mrs. J. D. Harrison of Bury, Mrs. Wilfred Bryson of Ormstown, Miss Christina's Cameron of Montreal, seven grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Wilson of Howick. Funeral services were held in the Howick United Church on Saturday afternoon, April 01. Interment at Georgetown Quebec.

03-27-1950 Mrs. Gertrude Carrie Canning, of Shoshone WY, died at the Memorial Hospital, age 65 years. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Boyd of Franklin Center Quebec. She was born on January 05, 1885, at Franklin Center Quebec, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Boyd, and had lived in the United States for 27 years. She went to Bonnieville in 1923 and was married to Ray O. Canning, at Lander, on May 6th, 1936, and their home was at the old D. Ranch on Bridger Creek. Survivors include her husband, a sister, Mrs. Steve Headley of Hemmingford Quebec, Mrs. Ira Gordon of Huntingdon Quebec, a niece attended the funeral. Funeral services were held at the Davis Chapel in Riverton on Friday March 31st service conducted by the Rev. Emil Wilson of the Episcopal Church at Ethete.

She was a resident of Huntingdon for many years and is well-known for her charitable works.

She was born in Elgin Township at Mapleview Farm, second daughter of the late Mr. James Paul and his wife Victoria Morrison. She leaves to mourn, two sisters, Agnes with whom she resided, and Martha, Mrs. R. Rutherford of Huntingdon Quebec, also a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Elgin Presbyterian Church, later with St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.

03-07-1950 David Anderson MacFarlain, died at his home in Elgin Township, Huntingdon County Quebec, age 86 years. He was one of the first owners of registered Ayrshire's in Huntingdon County. He leaves two sons and a daughter, his wife died several years ago.

He was the husband of Georgina Leduc, Mr. Carletti has been residing for the past few years at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. V. Petri, 200 Ellis Street, Valleyfield. He was born June 20, 1855, in Tiffilo Italy, on July 13th, 1887, he married Georgina Leduc, marriage ceremony being conducted by the Rev. Father Alexis Pelletier in 1897, he moved to the United States where he resided until 1946 when he returned a Valleyfield. He leaves to mourn, his daughter, his granddaughters, Ellen and Patricia, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Leduc, Mr. and Mrs. Georges Leduc and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Huneault, all of Valleyfield. Funeral services were held from the Valleyfield Cathedral on Tuesday morning April 11th.

03-31-1950 Mrs. William E. Hill, died at her home in Chateauguay, age 77 years. She was born in Chicopee Falls MA, on April 27, 1873, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Green) Meeker. On August 10, 1904, she then was Miss Minnie M. Meeker, and was united in marriage to William E. Hill, and since made their home in Chateauguay. Survivors include her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Bracy of Burke New York, one son, Everett, of Pontiac Michigan, and other son, Claude, died in 1933. Funeral services were held at the Chateauguay Methodist Church, service conducted by the Rev. Vernon C. Nichols, pastor. Interment was in the Eastside Cemetery.

04-01-1950 Henry W. Hill, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walter Santamore. He was 94 years of age. He was born in Chateauguay, one of the eight children of the late John and Jane (Spence) Hill. His parents were born in England. His wife, the former Miss Anna Miller of Churubusco, died in 1948, since her death he has made his home with his daughter. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Walters Santamore, are two grandchildren, Harold, and Mrs. Lawrence Ferrell, one great-grandchild, Walter Ferrell, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from the Chateauguay Funeral Home, on Monday at 330 p.m., with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, service conducted by the Rev. Benjamin Ashton.

Most of her life was spent on the Gore, Hinchinbrooke Quebec, with the exception of five years spent in Lachute Quebec. She was the second daughter of the late John Purse and Isabella Coulter. In 1892, she was united in marriage to the late William F. Henderson, who predeceased her 18 years ago, she was also predeceased by two daughters, Mildred, Mrs. B. Douglass, and Gladys. Also surviving are two sons, James of Chateauguay, and Charles of Montreal, two daughters, Mina, Mrs. Ord Taylor of Huntingdon, and Vera, Mrs. Norman McRae of Garson Mines, also 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother, John Purse of Winnipeg, and one sister, Mrs. Adeline Wells of Detroit MI. 04-14-1950 Mrs. Margaret E. Bryant, widow of the late Charles M. Bryant, died at her home in Chateauguay, following a long illness. She was the daughter of the late David W. and Anna (Mutter), Davies. Mr. Davies for years conducted a Wheelwright and Blacksmith shop on Main Street. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Davies, of whom Mrs. Bryant was the last survivor. On October 17, 1883, she became the bride of Charles M. Bryant. The marriage ceremony took place in the family home, and the clergyman was Rev. Andrew M. Miller, a cousin of the groom. Rev. Miller was then pastor of the Congregational Church and Malone, N.Y. Mr. Bryant predeceased his wife many years ago. Surviving are two nephews, Frank W. and Lawrence O. Davies, both residents of California, and several cousins, Mrs. William McCracken, and Mrs. Jenny Leavers, both of Athelstan Quebec, Mrs. Ellen Patterson, and Miss Mamie Jamison, both of Huntingdon Quebec, also Archie Rankin of Chateauguay, and David Rankin of Massena NY. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church on Monday April 17th, with Interment in the Smith Cemetery

04-15-1950 William Jackson, died at his home in Chateauguay, age 73 years. Mr. Jackson was born in Chateauguay, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jackson. He was twice married, his first wife was the former Miss Sophronia Lacoy, who died many years ago. His second wife, the former Miss Mildred Robinson, survives, also 13 children, including six son's, Paul, Levi, Frank, Joseph, John and Kenneth, all of Chateauguay, 7 daughters, Mrs. Lavina Morhouse, Mrs. Peter Savoir, Mary, Rosetta, Patricia, and Shirley Jackson, all of Chateauguay, and Mrs. Rose Leclair of Altona NY, 24 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. James Lamb of Chateauguay, and Mrs. Mary Fitzgibbon's of Syracuse NY, two brothers, Alexander, of Syracuse NY, and James of Keene NH. Funeral services were held from St. Patrick's Church on Tuesday, the 18th, and burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

She came to this country from Roumania above 1914, and shortly after was married. They raised a large family of twelve children. Her first husband died in 1934 and she later married Mr. Dan Kovaneff. She leaves to mourn, besides her husband, 5 sons, George of Malartic Quebec, Arthur of Fort Covington New York, Jimmie at home, John of Windsor Ontario, Harold of Woodstock Ontario, seven daughters, Victoria, Mrs. Merrill Patterson of Lacolle Quebec, Annie, Mrs. Charles Ghostlau of Bombay New York, Helen, Mrs.Vincellette of Bombay New York, and Isabella, Catherine, Sylvia, and Flora Anholt. One brother, Mr. John Liachomsky of St. Catherine's Ontario, and one sister, located in Brazil, South America. Funeral services were held from her late residence to the Zion United Church, service conducted by the Rev. A. E. Hager. Interment was in the Zion Church Cemetery.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the old family homestead, service was conducted by the Rev. G. Howard Grace of Athelstan.

05-20-1950 Ellen Teresa Smith, (sister Francis Margaret) of the Sisters of Providence, and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Francis Smith of Ormstown Quebec, died at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver BC. The Funeral Mass was said by the Rev. Father Cuthbert, Superior of the Franceiscan Fathers, assisted by the Chaplain, Rev. Father Dickenson of St. Paul's. The Rev. Sister's sang the mass and she was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in New Westminister British Columbia.

05-27-1950 Miss Catherine Duffy, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Williams Fay of New York, following an extended illness, the remains were brought to the Chateauguay Funeral Home on Sunday, and the funeral was held from St. Patrick's Church on Monday morning, service conducted by the Rev. Edgar A Gallagher. Interment was in St. Patrick's Cemetery. She was born in Chateauguay, the eldest child of Mr. Patrick and Mrs. Ann (Morgan) Duffy. She would have reached the age of 93 years on June 22nd, 1950. She is survived by her brother, James Duffy, the last survivor of the children of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Duffy. Besides her brother, Miss Duffy is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as grand nieces and nephews.

(Not dated) Alexander Leblanc, died after a lingering illness of two years. Age 68 years. He was born in St. Agnes on March 12, 1882, son of Louis Leblanc and of his wife, Mary Richer, both now deceased. Mr. Leblanc with his wife, the former Leontine Leblanc, moved from their farm on the Ridge Road to the Hospice de Valleyfield. Left to mourn, are six brothers, Halbert, Joseph, Arthur, George, Olivier, and Leandre, and one sister, Mrs. Alberta. One other brother, William, died last summer. Funeral services were held in St. Agnes Church service conducted by the Rev. Father Paul D. Dequire.

06-02-1950 Herbert Thomas Cunningham, husband of the late Elizabeth Edgar, passed away on Friday, at the Huntingdon County Hospital. He was born at Huntingdon Quebec, in 1879, he was son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Cunningham. In 1911, he married Elizabeth Edgar of Lancaster ON. He is survived by four daughters, Allison, Mrs. Frame, of Rochester New York, Janet, Mrs. Allison of Morrisburg ON, Martha, Mrs. Johnston of Bathurst New Brunswick, Helen, Mrs. Rutherford of Lachine Quebec, and one son, John, of Huntingdon, 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Addie Kerr, of Calgary Alberta. Funeral services were held from the Huntingdon United Church.

05-08-1950 Mr. William J. Darby, formerly of Ormstown Quebec, died at Los Angeles CA, age 84 years. He had resided there for the last 10 years. Mr. Darby was born in London England, in 1870, came to Ormstown Quebec with his parents at age of 04 years. In 1890 he moved to Deluth Minnesota, where he became engaged in the bricklaying and plastering trade. He married Maria Sangster, of Ormstown Quebec, in 1911 they moved to a farm in Wrenshall Township. After the death of his wife Maria in 1939, he moved to Los Angeles CA, to be near his son, Sangster. He is survived by his two children, Margaret Premer of St. Louis MO, and John S. Darby of Los Angeles CA, four grandchildren, Patricia, Barbara, David Premer, and Nancy Darby.

She was born at Dewittville Quebec, daughter of the late James Holladay and his wife, Mary (May) Jane Ferns. Three sisters and one brother survive, Ida, Pearl, Irene and Grandville, one sister, Edith, Mrs. R. E. Cogland, and to brothers, Harry and Douglas Predeceased her. Funeral services from St. James Presbyterian Church, in Huntingdon Quebec, on Thursday, June 15. Service conducted by the Rev. R. D. McLean. Interment in the family plot in the Huntingdon Protestant Cemetery.

06-04-1950 William Murray Rennie, died at Huntingdon Quebec, in his 70th year. He was born at the Beaver, Quebec, January 23rd, 1880, he was the only son of the late Alexander Rennie and Janet Bruce. In 1913, he married Mary Campbell of Dundee Quebec, later moved to the United States. He was a carpenter by trade. After living a number of years in Worcester MA, they moved to Miami FL, where they live for 13 years. They had no children of their own, while living in West Warren MA, Myrtle Wagner, a little girl of 1 1/2 years was very fond of Mr. and Mrs. Rennie. They have always thought of her as a daughter. He leaves to mourn, his wife, Mary who faithfully cared for him during his illness, one sister, Mrs. A Keach of Holden MA, three sister-in-law's, Miss. Kate Campbell, Mrs. Sarah McGibbon of Huntingdon, Mrs. C. Walcott of Worcester MA, one brother-in-law, Mr. Willie Campbell of Huntingdon, besides a number of other relatives. Funeral services were held in the Huntingdon United Church, service conducted by the Rev. T. Knowles. Interment in the Dundee Cemetery.

In 1897 she was married to Alfred Smith of Roxham Quebec, who predeceased her in 1909. Her only child, Olive, Mrs. J. Schefferele, of Buffalo New York, died in 1929. A nephew, Willard Smith of Perrys Mills New York, also three grandchildren in Buffalo New York, several nephews and nieces, Funeral services were held from St. Luke's Anglican Church, service conducted by the Rev. Andrews. Interment was in the family plot in Roxham Quebec.

She was born on August 05, 19 00, she was one of two children of Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Greemore. Her brother, Robert, and her father, predeceased her by several years. Mrs. Hamilton was born on January 22nd, 1870, the only child of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Stringer of Sherrington Québec. She married Malcolm Hamilton, a blacksmith, in 1885, who predeceased her in 1936. She is survived by 3 daughters, Annie, Mrs. Robert Marshall, Flora, Mrs. T. S. MacFarlane, Jean, Mrs. Glenn Harvey of Malone New York, four sons, Malcolm of Troy New York, Melvin of Glenelm Quebec, Roy and Clifford on the farm. Ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews, one son, John Stringer Hamilton, was killed in action in 1917. Funeral services were held from her late residents, on Saturday afternoon at 230 o'clock, then to the Elgin Presbyterian Church, service was conducted by a former pastor, Rev. W.Scott Duncan of Toronto ON. Interment took place in the Elgin Cemetery.

On Monday evening he had gone over to visit a friend, at a summer house which he built on the same farm and while there suddenly passed away. The deceased had retired from farming a few years ago. He was a highly respected neighbor, always willing to give a helping hand. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. David Tait of Ormstown Québec, and Mrs. Sam Mann of St. Lambert Québec, two brothers, Mr. Alan Henderson of Howick Québec, and Mr. Andrew Henderson of Montreal. Funeral service was held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m., in the Georgetown Church of which he was a member for many years, service was conducted by the Rev. J. Marshall.

She was born on March 06, 1882, at Riverfield Québec, and was the daughter of the late Matthew McKell and his wife, Martha McGregor. In 1906, she was married to Mr. George McClanahan of Riverfield Québec, and since the time has resided in Edmonton AB. She leaves to mourn, her husband, four sons, Ross, Bruce, Ray and Larry, three of whom served in the Armed Forces during the second world war, and one grandson, also two sisters, Edna, Mrs. John Greig of Ormstown Québec, and Gladys, Mrs. Don Fraser of Lancaster ON. 08-08-1950 Dr. Patrick H. O'Leary, beloved husband of Gertrude Moriarty, and son of the late Denis and Mrs. O'Leary, died at his home in Chateauguay New York. Funeral in Chateauguay at St. Patrick's Church. Service conducted by the Rev. Edgar Gallagher. He was an outstanding citizen, and a well-known dentist of this town. He was born in Helena Montana, in 1890, a son of Denis and Honora Harrington O'Leary. When he was 11 months old, his parents moved to Hinchinbrooke Québec, later they moved to the district known as the frontier and he attended local rural schools before entering Chateauguay high school. He received his Dr. of Dental Surgery in 1915. Illness necessitated the amputation of a limb, and the use of an artificial one. Despite this handicap, he showed great courage and fortitude, and was able to make a decided sucess of his chosen career. In 1925, Dr. O'Leary and Miss Gertrude Moriarty of Huntingdon Québec, were married, later taking up residence in the home on Church Street, where they had since resided. A daughter, Patricia, was born there. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Richard O'Leary, and his daughter, Miss Patricia O'Leary. Both of Chateauguay, his mother, Mrs. H. P. O'Leary of the Frontier, his brother, Dr. F. W. O'Leary of Malone New York, and three sisters, Mrs. Florence Corning, Mrs. Mabel Collum, and Mrs. Olive Davis, all of Syracuse New York

08-24-1950 James W. Duffy, died at his home in Chateauguay New York, following several months of illness. He was born in Altona, New York, son of the late Patrick and Ann Morgan Duffy. He was 80 years of age. He was the last of the eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Duffy. He and Florence McNulty, of Norwood, were married October 20th, 1908, Mrs. Duffy predeceased her husband by less than a year, her death occurring on October 21st, 1949. Surviving are four children, Miss Jane of Chateauguay, a teacher in the Chateauguay high school, Mrs. Robert Carnell of Cresskill NJ, Morgan, of New York City, and Robert, of Bridgeport CT. Funeral services were held from the family home to St. Patrick's Church, burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

08-18-1950 John Bellows, a resident of Chateauguay Lake, died from injuries received when he was gored by a bull on his farm. He was 48 years of age, born in Chateauguay Lake, a son of Walter Bellows and the late Ethel (Hull) Bellows. He is survived by his father, two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Kavanaugh of Burke New York, Mrs. John Feinman of Chateauguay, Elmer and Millard of Chateauguay Lake. Fifty-five years ago, she was united in marriage with George Alonso Vaughn and they established their home here. To them where born seven children, all of whom survive with the exception of Grace, who died many years ago. Mr. Vaughn predeceased his wife by several years. 10-05-1950 John D. Currie, husband of the late Lillian McNichol, and father of Laura, Lyle and Stanley Currie, died at Huntingdon Quebec, in his 85th year. He was born July 29, 1866 at Delmont, Huntingdon County, Quebec. He was the eldest son of Duncan Currie and Catherine Livingston who was a cousin of the missionary-explorer, David Livingstone. Duncan was the son of John Currie, one of the first settler of the district now known as LaGuerre. The Livingstones were, the first settlers in Port Lewis, but all of this family now bearing the name are to be found in Ontario. John Currie was engaged in the butter and cheese manufacturing from boyhood, and served in many parts of the country before acquiring his own factories in St. Agnes and Dundee. His wife, Lillian McNichol, died in 1904,leaving him with three small children, Laura, Lyle and Stanley. Funeral services were held at the home of his son, Lyle, in Dundee, service was conducted by the Rev. Thomas Knowles, assisted by the Rev. J. B. McLean. Interment Saturday October 7th In the Zion Church Cemetery, in Dundee Quebec.

10-06-1950 David Owen Chambers, died at Albany New York, following a heart attack. He was a native of Chateauguay, he attended the Albany law school and had been a member of the legal profession for many years. He was for some time state attorney connected with the agriculture department. He was one of three children of the late Daniel Chambers and Katherine Dwyer Chambers. He was 47 years of age. His survivors include his wife, the former Miss Emily Smith of Albany, two sons, David Jr., and Paul, one brother, Carl, of Warrensbury New York, an Aunt, Mrs. Margaret D.Lancto of Chateauguay, also several cousins. Funeral was held on Tuesday, October 10th, at St. Patrick's Church in Chateauguay, with burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

10-13-1950 Mrs. Herbert G. Yates, died at her home, 158 Pitt Street, Cornwall Ontario. She was born in Ste Agnes de Dundee Quebec, 82 years ago last November 10th. She was the former Sarah Jane Thomson, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Lewis Thomson, her mother being the former Catherine Stowell. She came to Cornwall from St. Agnes 60 Years ago. Her husband was for many years a Prominent Businessman of Cornwall, she Is survived by one son, B,T.. Yates and four Grandchildren. Her husband Died February the 18th, 1941. Interment in Spring Hill Cemetery, near Metcalf Ontario.

10-01-1950 Albert H. SWeet, a native of Chateauguay and a widely known farmer in the vicinity before his retirement, died of a heart attack at his home, 22 Slater Avenue, Sunday, October 01. He was born in the vicinity of Cook's Lines, near the Canadian border, Jun. 9th, 1876, son of James and Angeline Wells Sweet. He was married to the former Katie Roberta Maither of Athelstan Quebec in 1910. Besides his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Harry J. Schramm of Saranac Lake, a brother, James Sweet of Chateauguay, two sisters, Mrs. Allie McClatchy of Saranac Lake and Mrs. Levi McCoy of Malone New York, also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted in the Presbyterian Church, or service conducted by the Rev. Alvin Gourley. Interment was in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Oldham, three grandsons, Gordon, Thomas, and Wesley Wheeler, four granddaughters, Louise, Blanche, and Linda Oldham, and Louise Wheeler. A brother, William J. Walsh and Bridget McDonnagh, of Huntingdon Quebec, he was born on the home farm situated on Route 52 and lived there all his life. 57 years ago he was married to Miss Mary Finn, who survives him, seven children were born of this union, 5 son's and two daughter's, all of whom are still living. Father Gerald Walsh of Pittsburgh, Richard F. and Harold A. in the general contracting business in Montreal, Edmund W. of Detroit MI, and Patrick J., at home, Genevieve, Mrs. William Courtney of Long Island New York, Margaret, Mrs. Margaret Ryan of Long Island, also seven grandchildren. At the time of her death she was residing with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Palmer. She is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in St. Patrick's Church, in Chateauguay.

She was born in Malone New York, February 20, 1924, the only child of L. Joseph and Anna Tavernier, and spent her entire life there, Besides her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Wood, and her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Joseph Tavernier, both of Malone New York, also several aunts and uncles. Funeral services was held in St. Patrick's Church in Malone New York, burial was at St. Joseph's Cemetery on the Lake Titus Road.

He came to Norwood as a boy and was educated in Norwood schools and was a member of Christ Church. He spent several years in Saskatchewan, AB, and British Columbia, in railway construction. He served in South Africa in the Boer War, and was also a veteran of the First World War with the Canadian Mounted Rifles. When the cavalry was disbanded he was transferred to the engineers, in which unit he was decorated with the military medal for bravery. While overseas he married the former Ethel Gell, and at the end of the war, returned to Canada and resided in Norwood. He leaves his wife, two daughters, Maude, Mrs. G. M. Matheson, of Herford England. And Betty Annie Baskin at home, two sons, James of Renfrew, and Edward of Toronto, three sisters, Maude, Mrs. William Baskin, Annie, Mrs. Fred Kempt, both of Norwood, and Catherine, Mrs. Robert Humphries of Memphis TN, also six grandchildren. Funeral services from his residence to Christ Church Anglican, service conducted by the Rev. Katie K. Rickard.

11-10-1950 Warren Edward Sadler, beloved husband of Winifred Palmer, and brother of Ida and Clara Osmond, died at the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown Quebec, age 63 years. Interment in Ormstown Quebec. Mr. Sadler was born on the Ormstown Concession, on October 20th, 1888, the only son of George Tate Sadler and his wife, Emma Winter. He was educated in the local school and Ormstown high school. On the retirement of his father he bought his farm and lived there until he retired a few years ago, he was a member of the Ormstown Council, and of the Ormstown Lodge No. 50,I.O.O.F. Encampment Branch No. 12. He is survived by his wife, Winifred Palmer, and by his two sisters, Ida, Mrs. Percy Osmond, and Clara, Mrs. Stuart Osmond. Other relatives present were John Palmer of Verdun, Clarence Palmer of Ormstown, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. Harold and George Palmer, Miss Peggy Palmer and Miss Sylvia Palmer, nephews and nieces from Bedford. Funeral services were held in the United Church, service conducted by the Rev. Leslie Taylor.

11-13-1950 Mrs. Elmer McCann, died at the Alice Hyde Hospital, after a brief illness. Marjorie McCann was born at Chateauguay Lake on January 25th, 1915. She was the daughter of Leon G. Douglas of Chateauguay, and the late Mrs. Florence Taubenheimer Douglas. She graduated from Chateauguay high school in 1932 and from the Chateauguay training class in 1933. In 1947 Marjorie Douglas became the bride of Elmer McCann, one of Chateauguay's popular and successful young businessman. Surviving besides her husband, her father and one brother, Mallard, of Albany New York. Funeral services were held from her late home in Chateauguay, with services at St. Patrick's Church. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

10-20-1950 Wilfred Lacasse, a lifelong and prominent citizen of Hemmingford, died at his home. His parents where Eusebe Lacasse and Odile Hebert, both of Pioneer French families. He was born at Port Henry New York, his family moving to Hemmingford many years ago. They constructed a mill at Starnes Corner, three miles north of this village. About 1898 Fred Lacasse bought the Milne now occupied by W. Keddy and son. The residence now occupied by his widow, the former Rose Menard, who he married in 1911. One son, Maurice, survives, two predeceased him. Mr. Ovila Lacasse, merchant here, and one sister, Josephine, survives. Mr. Wilfred Lacasse was mayor of Hemmingford for 10 year's, only retiring when his health commenced to fail him. Funeral services was held in St Romans Roman Catholic Church.

11-17-1950 H. C. Collier, Secretary of the Canadian-Last Indian league, and editor of the Canada West Indies magazine, died suddenly at his home, 4844 Mayfair Avenue, Montreal Quebec, age 62 year's. He was a native of British Guyana, educated in Scotland and came to Montreal prior to World War I. Mr. Callier son acquired a small farm near Allan's Corner's Quebec, and the Callier family spent much of their time at this farm. He is survived by his widow, Maye Tate, and two sons, Peter who worked with him, and Cecil who is in the tourist travel ticket agency business. Burial took place on Monday in the Georgetown Church Cemetery in Howick Quebec

Two sons, Paul of Senneterre Quebec, and Leo of Huntingdon. Three brothers, George, Paul, and Joseph Robidoux of Montreal, also two sisters, Mrs. Albina Voyer and Mrs. Rose Pare of Montreal. The body will rest at the home of Mr. Paul Ouimet, 90 York Street, the funeral which takes place on Saturday, November 25th, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

He had two granddaughters, Joan Goldie, Mrs. William Spidel of Washington D.C., and Miss Fay Goldie of Daytona Beach FL. Remeans resting at the Cosgrove Funeral Home in Fort Covington New York, funeral services were held from the Presbyterian Church in Fort Covington, service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. McCurdy, and Rev. Randolph McLean of Huntingdon.

11-25-1950 Jane Wilson Gilbert, wife of the late Alexander P. Rember, died at Ormstown Quebec, in her 57th year. She was the fourth daughter of the late Robert Gibson and his wife, and Janet Wilson. She was born at Huntingdon Quebec, on December 10th, 1893, and was united in marriage with Alexander P. Rember on December 29, 1915. Mrs. Rember leaves to mourn, her five daughters, Alexa, Mrs. Cameron Bryson, Ruth (Ruby), Mrs. Boyd Campbell, Marion, Mrs. Roy Lidstone, and Roberta. Also two sisters, Margaret and Mary, one stepdaughter, Elizabeth, two stepsons, Ward and Adrian and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held from her late residence to St. Paul's United Church, on November 27, service conducted by the Rev. C. Leslie Taylor. Interment was at the Union Cemetery in Ormstown Quebec.

12-07-1950 Harry W. Dear, died in the Huntingdon County Hospital in Huntingdon Québec, in his 79th year. He was born in Sudbury, England, on November 17, 1872, one of a family of 10 children born to his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. William Dear, beloved husband of Christina Hinks of Huntingdon Quebec. In the year 1887, at the age of 15 years, he came to Canada in the Company of a friend, and has made his home in this country since that time. In 1897, he was married to the former Cristina Ellen Hinks, and to this Union, 11 children were born, six boys and five girls, all of whom are living. Living most of his life in Powerscourt Quebec, except for the last nine years when he made his home at Trout River. Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn his loss six sons, John, Harold, Lewis, and Ernest all of Massena New York, Arthur of New York, and George of Athelstan Quebec, his five daughters, Annie, Mrs. Jerry Marlow of Whippleville, New York, Myrtle, Mrs. Clinton Tolan of Burke New York, Dorothea, Mrs. Howard Olmstead, of Shrub Oak, New York, Grace, Mrs. Russell MacDonald of Huntingdon Quebec, and Gertrude, Mrs. Floyd Allen of Aubrey Quebec. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, at the Presbyterian Church in Huntingdon Quebec, with the Rev. Randolph McLean officiating. Interment was in the Huntingdon Cemetery. Dec10th.

12-23-1950 Joyce Isabel Andrew's, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Nelson Andrews of Lennoxville Quebec, married Lyman Anderson Robert's, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Robert's of Ormstown Quebec. At the home of the bride's parents in Lennoxville Quebec, by the Rev. N. D. McLeod.

12-27-1950 Andrew J. D. Chisholm, beloved husband of Mary Campbell, died at his residence on the Tullochgorum Road, Howick Quebec, in his 80th year.

12-31-1950 James Colquhoun, beloved husband of Laura Mayfred Burpee, died at his late residence in Dundee Quebec, age 80 years 04 months. He was a lifelong resident of Dundee. He was born in Dundee, August 29th, 1870, son of the late Mr. Angus Colquhoun and his wife, whose maiden name was Jean McGibbon. He and his brother Archibald, who passed away over two years ago, operated the family farm until a few years ago, when after his brother's death, Mr. Colquhoun was forced, due to failing health, to rent the farm and take life easier. On September 26, 1928, he was united in marriage to Miss Laura Mayfred in Massena NY, who survives him. He leaves to mourn, besides his widow, a niece and a nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Dick, of Montreal, and their family, a grand niece and nephew also several cousins. Funeral services were held from his late residents on Tuesday afternoon January 02, to the Zion Church, and service conducted by the Rev. A. E. Hager. Burial was in Zion Church Cemetery.

12-28-1950 Sarah Carson, beloved wife of that late John H. Stevenson by her first marriage, and the late Joseph Jackson by the second marriage, died suddenly it Franklin Center Quebec, age 81 year's. Interment in the Bethel Cemetery.
